GRH 101 Airborne

We are historical reenactment group that reenact uniforms, equipment and life of paratroopers from 101st Airborne Division. The main goal of our group is to study events that accompanied soldiers from this unit during campaigns in Normandy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and also propagate "life history" during historical reenactments and picnics. Between years 2005 and 2010 we were taking part in many battle reenactments such as: displays and Airshows in Góraszka and Cracow, historical picnics at the Fort Czerniakowski and in Modlin, battle reenactment of battle of Arnhem in Poznan, Battle of Wyry, D-Day on Hel Peninsula, Military Zone in Gostyn (2008, 2009, 2010), Monte Cassino in Ogrodzieniec (2008, 2009, 2010) and Normandy44 in Bydgoszcz.

Moreover our Group is regularly organizing internal maneuvers. During maneuvers we are training elements of drill and tactics of parachute infantry units. At this moment Group consists of 19 members (and eight Friends of Group) and still is growing. We warmly invite all our guests to visit our forum.

Captain Chuck Franks

I was in the US Army from 1985 to 1992. During that time I served with the 101st for three years (1986 to 1989) as a Lieutenant. I spent my whole time with the 101st in the 3/327 Infantry. I was a rifle platoon leader in A company and I was an Anti-Tank Platoon Leader and the company executive officer in D company.

After I was promoted to Captain, I served with the First Armored Division. I was in the 2/6 Infantry.

Chuck Franks

Above is a photo of me in my uniform as a Lieutenant. It is from my wedding day. I was married in uniform. The uniform is the Dress Blues uniform of the professional army. It is only worn on special days, like a wedding. It is very similar to the uniform of the US Army in the Civil War and the old west, when they served in the 1860 to 1890. Over my right breast pocket you can see the 327th Infantry Crest. The airborne wings and Ranger Tab on my left breast pocket are hidden behind my hands.
